Treat someone special (or maybe yourself) to a relaxing bath with these nourishing, all natural bath bombs! Only three ingredients needed. Optional ingredients include dried herbs or flowers, sea salt and skin-softening oil.
Simple and fun to make, these bath bombs make wonderful gifts - even for yourself!
Ingredients
- 2 cups baking soda
- 1 cup cream of tartar (citric acid may be substituted - but can be harsh for the skin)
- 10 drops essential oil of choice (lemon, lavender, rose geranium, etc.)
- Spray bottle with water (floral hydrosol may be added for extra scent)
- Mold for bath bombs - silicone molds found in craft stores work well
- Optional:
- 2 tablespoons jojoba oil (other possible oils include moringa, argan or coconut oil)
- 1 tablespoon dried herb or flower
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in bowl.
- Spray water into the mixture.
- Mix with your hands.
- The mixture will start to bubble and then become firm. This happens quickly.
- Press into molds.(This recipe almost filled this flower mold.)
- Allow to dry overnight.
- Remove from mold.
- Add 1 bomb to running bathwater.
- Enjoy!
For this recipe I used ground pink Himalayan sea salt and dried rose petals for a pink hue. I also used rose hydrosol like the one found here. I added rose geranium essential oil which made this combination ideal for those who love the smell of roses!

I see that you used some dried herbs. Did you use any of the other optional ingredients and if you didn’t how would the jojoba oil effect the recipe?
Andrea Fabry says
I used ground roses. I like them ground finely so they aren’t floating around…they blend in better. In this photo I did not add any oil, but when I have done it in the past it still has held together well and added a touch of moisturizing benefit.
