15 Homemade Jello Recipes

Yum

Enjoy a real food, immune-boosting snack with homemade gelatin!

Looking for a simple, real food snack Try homemade Jello! It Takes Time

Collagen is one of our greatest allies when it comes to preventing sunburn, skin cancers and other maladies. (See the previous post Protect Your Skin: Eat Some Collagen.)

Homemade bone stock is one of the best sources of collagen. Another option is bone stock in powder form. This is where homemade Jello comes in. By combining powdered gelatin with a liquid of your choice, you can create a collagen-boosting snack!

Where can you find pure gelatin? Great Lakes offers an excellent powder derived from grass fed cows. I purchase mine from Amazon. Great Lakes offers a porcine version, made from pork,  but I tend to stick with the bovine. The pork version is cheaper. Vital Proteins also offers a pasture-raised beef gelatin.

I avoid Knox gelatin since it is sourced from factory-farm meat. I have grave concerns about the quality of CAFO meat.

(When making these recipes stick with the red label version of Great Lakes as the green label version does not gel.)

A basic gelatin recipe is 2 cups liquid of choice with 2 tablespoons powdered gelatin. Heat the liquid to simmer and blend in the powder thoroughly. Pour into mold and place in refrigerator until set.

The sky is the limit when it comes to recipes made with powdered gelatin. My favorite is made with Turmeric Lime Soda and a pure source of xylitol.  I also enjoy Coconut Water Kefir gelatin.

You can also thicken sauces or homemade yogurt with gelatin.

Hey Andrea! I am interested in getting some gelatin in but I am wondering if there is a capsule form to take?

      These look pretty good, Jennifer:

Another option is one that doesn’t gel but is tasteless and can be added to virtually any food.

I will add this to the post. Thanks Jennifer!
